Democrat Chris Harden is running against Republican John Cowan for Georgia’s 11th Congressional District in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. Harden is an attorney whose campaign platform emphasizes healthcare, family costs and government accountability.
Healthcare and household costs
Harden supports restoring and expanding Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, capping out-of-pocket costs for lifesaving medicines and improving rural access to care. He also supports access to contraception, fertility treatment and abortion care.
His economic proposals include middle-class tax relief, a higher minimum wage and greater tax contributions from large corporations and wealthy households. He backs public education, apprenticeships and workforce training.
Government reform and infrastructure
Harden supports restrictions on congressional stock trading, stronger campaign-finance transparency and independent redistricting commissions. He also calls for investment in roads, water systems, broadband, housing and clean energy.
These priorities could affect local insurance costs, training opportunities and infrastructure funding. Their effects would depend on enacted legislation and how programs are financed.
Implementation
The platform reviewed does not provide a complete cost estimate, specific tax rates or a financing schedule covering the full agenda. Its tax proposals identify broad revenue goals but do not establish that they would fully fund the spending proposals.
A House member can sponsor bills, vote on appropriations and conduct oversight. Harden could not enact the agenda alone, and constitutional changes require additional procedures.
The East Cobb Beacon did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
