Fifteen children were living in a two-bedroom apartment on Bells Ferry Road with three adults, not enough food for 18 people and only nine beds, according to arrest warrants.

Ashley Jackson, Derrick Jackson and Briana Reynolds each face charges of first-degree and second-degree child cruelty and possession of marijuana, Atlanta News First reported. All three were booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on Thursday, Sept. 24. They are held without bond.

The warrants, first obtained by WSB-TV, describe the apartment at the Laurel Hills Preserve complex off Bells Ferry Road in Marietta. The 15 children ranged in age from 1 to 17. All 18 people shared the two-bedroom unit.

Investigators found the home lacked enough food for all 18 occupants. They found no toilet paper in the apartment. A blanket with mold growing on it hung in one of the bedrooms, the warrants state.

Authorities counted only nine beds for the 15 children. The warrants also state the children were left without adult supervision for hours at a time.

Marijuana was found in the bedroom used by the three adults, according to the warrants.

Derrick Jackson faces an additional charge of crossing the guard line at the county detention facility. Police allege he was concealing marijuana inside a body cavity when he was booked, according to Atlanta News First.

The relationships between the three adults and the 15 children have not been disclosed in any public record reviewed by the two outlets. The current placement of the children after the arrests has not been publicly confirmed.

No arraignment date or next court hearing has been announced. The case remains under investigation by Marietta police.
