Democrat Kevin Redmon is challenging Republican incumbent JoAnn K. Birrell for Cobb County Commission District 3 in the Nov. 3, 2026, election. The county’s certified primary results identify both candidates as their parties’ nominees.

Redmon says he has lived in East Cobb since 2005 and has a business background. His campaign biography and platform describe his work on Commissioner Jerica Richardson’s Community Cabinet and opposition to East Cobb cityhood.

Public safety and roads

Redmon supports competitive pay and staffing for police, firefighters and 911 workers. He proposes using crash data to prioritize road improvements, including pedestrian and bicycle safety, in coordination with state and local partners.

Spending and public participation

He calls for evaluating programs before expanding them, using technology to improve service and streamlining processes for small businesses. His platform also proposes town halls, a community cabinet and clearer communication before county decisions.

The materials reviewed do not specify the cost of proposed staffing or road changes, a funding package or an implementation schedule. These policies could affect county service levels and spending, but specific household tax effects are not established.

A commissioner participates in collective board decisions on county budgets and policy. Redmon could not independently set the county tax rate or order all transportation projects.

The East Cobb Beacon did not receive a direct questionnaire response from the candidate and does not endorse candidates.
