East Cobb is getting its own Solar Slice Pizza.

The New York-style pizzeria, which has drawn lines out the door at its Cobb Parkway location since a viral Barstool Sports review in May, confirmed Friday, July 24, that it will open a second restaurant at 3460 Sandy Plains Road, Suite 250, in Sandy Plains Marketplace near the intersection of Sandy Plains and Shallowford roads.

The space previously housed a MOD Pizza, which opened in March 2020 and closed in August 2024.

Founder Zachary Wyatt opened the original Solar Slice on Cobb Parkway in 2024, taking over the former Baby Tommy's Taste of New York space after spending years learning the craft at Fellini's Pizza in Atlanta. The restaurant pairs thin, crispy slices with pinball machines, arcade games, neon lighting, and '80s and '90s nostalgia.

In March 2026, a vehicle crashed through an exterior wall of the Cobb Parkway building, raising fears the restaurant might not reopen. Temporary supports were installed and the shop recovered.

Then came the boost. Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy visited in May for his One Bite Pizza Reviews series and scored "The Portnoy" pizza an 8.1 out of 10, with the regular cheese slice earning a 7.9. Demand exploded. In the weeks after the review went live, the restaurant was producing roughly 500 pizzas per day, with customer waits hitting at least 45 minutes, according to EastCobb.com. Solar Slice occasionally had to pause orders because its oven couldn't keep pace.

"This is more than I ever thought would happen. This is crazy," Wyatt told Atlanta News First in late May, as customers traveled from across metro Atlanta for a slice.

A second kitchen at Sandy Plains Marketplace should relieve pressure on the original location while putting Solar Slice closer to diners in East Cobb and northeast Marietta.

Solar Slice has not announced an opening date, operating hours, or phone number for the new location. The restaurant described the Sandy Plains spot as "coming soon" on its Instagram account. Updates will be posted on Instagram (@solar_slice_pizza) and at SolarSlicePizza.com.
