Lassiter, Pope and Walton high schools each graduated more than 97 percent of their seniors in 2026, helping push the Cobb County School District past 90 percent for the first time in its history.

The district announced Monday, Sept. 28, that its overall graduation rate reached 90.9 percent among 9,195 seniors. That is 1.7 percentage points above the previous record of 89.2 percent set in 2025 and continues a three-year climb from 87.9 percent in 2023. The rate is calculated using the federal four-year cohort formula, which counts every student enrolled even for a single day.

Lassiter High School finished second in the district at 98.5 percent, graduating 481 seniors and gaining 1.2 percentage points over 2025. Pope High School was close behind at 98.4 percent with 445 seniors, and Walton High School posted 97.8 percent with 558 seniors.

Harrison High School in West Cobb led the district at 98.9 percent.

Kell, Sprayberry and Wheeler also cleared 90 percent. Sprayberry's 92.6 percent rate marked one of the largest year-over-year jumps in the district, climbing 3 percentage points from 89.6 percent in 2025. Kell rose from 93.8 percent to 95.5 percent, and Wheeler edged up from 89.4 percent to 90.2 percent, according to East Cobb News.

Across the district, 13 traditional high schools hit 90 percent or higher, up from 10 in 2025.

Vice Board Chair David Chastain said in the district's announcement that the benefits include higher college admission rates, scholarships and property values.

Board Chair Randy Scamihorn pointed to a separate district figure: a 99.2 percent graduation rate for the 6,374 seniors who stayed enrolled in Cobb schools for all four years. "Come to Cobb, stay in Cobb, graduate on time, and be ready for life," Scamihorn said.

Georgia's statewide graduation rate also set a record at 88.5 percent, up from 87.2 percent in 2025. Cobb is one of 147 districts in the state at or above 90 percent, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

The district also noted that all 16 of its traditional high schools were recognized as 2026 AP Honor Schools. A date for the next Cobb County Board of Education meeting was not included in the announcement.
