East Cobb families who rely on Cobb County school buses are contending with late routes and a bus-tracking app that parents say crashes and shows wrong arrival times, nearly a month into the 2026-27 school year.

The ongoing problems, first reported by 11Alive on Monday, Sept. 14, affect families across the district's high school zones, including Walton, Pope, Lassiter and Wheeler in East Cobb. The issues trace to the district's switch to EduLog, a new parent portal and routing system that replaced the previous Here Comes the Bus app.

The Cobb County School District announced the technology change in a Jan. 22 transportation announcement, describing improved routing and scheduling for a fleet of more than 1,000 buses that transports over 72,000 students daily.

Marietta parent Brynne Komonchak told 11Alive her daughter, a freshman in Pebblebrook High School's magnet program in Mableton, was late to first period for 10 consecutive school days during the opening weeks of the semester. Her daughter now arrives on time in the morning, but only because she gets to her bus stop about 25 minutes earlier than before. The afternoon ride home still runs roughly 30 minutes late each day, Komonchak said.

Komonchak also reported the EduLog app crashes several times a week and frequently shows inaccurate arrival times for both of her children. A second parent told 11Alive they still have not been able to register one of their students in the app.

When 11Alive first covered the delays in August, Komonchak pushed back against other parents who told her to calm down, saying lost classroom time was a serious concern. At the time, the district said the app was working and predicted families would see more consistent arrival times as routes settled in.

A month later, the morning commute improved for Komonchak's daughter only because the family adjusted its schedule. The afternoon delays and app problems have not been resolved.

A district spokesperson said transportation-related complaints have dropped since the first week of school and characterized remaining EduLog concerns as isolated, not systemwide. The district directed families with app problems to email [email protected] for help.

The district enrolls 105,738 students, according to its website. The next Cobb County School Board meeting is Thursday, Sept. 17, with a 2 p.m. work session and a 7 p.m. board meeting. Both sessions include time for public comment.
