The Cobb County Transfer Station will be closed to the public Saturday, Sept. 19, and Sunday, Sept. 20, while crews complete construction on the facility's exit.

Cobb County Government announced the closure on X on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Commercial haulers will still have access during the two-day shutdown.

Saturday is the real disruption for residents. The station, at 1897 County Services Parkway in Marietta, is normally closed on Sundays anyway, making Saturday the only weekend window for household drop-offs.

The county did not describe the scope of the exit construction project or say how long the work has been underway.

Hours, fees and contact

The Transfer Station handles more than 150,000 transactions a year and processes over 90,000 tons of solid waste, according to the county's waste disposal page. It serves private residents, municipal haulers and commercial operators. GFL Environmental operates the facility under contract with Cobb County.

Regular hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For in-county residents, the base disposal fee is $14 for the first 400 pounds of household waste or construction debris, with anything above that charged at $0.03 per pound. A valid Georgia driver's license is the only accepted proof of residency.
