A.L. Burruss Elementary School is offering counseling and additional support after the death of second-grader Ariella Nur in an Oct. 28 crash in Cobb County.

Ariella, 7, was riding in a car driven by her father when it collided with a pickup truck at Macland Road and Ernest Barrett Parkway in unincorporated Marietta, according to WSB-TV’s reporting.

Principal Dr. Jillian Johnson said counselors and extra staff have been available to help students and employees cope with the loss. Parents needing assistance can contact her directly, the Cobb County Courier reported.

A fundraiser created in Ariella’s memory describes a child involved in music, dance and gymnastics. She participated in her school’s chorus and dance team, studied ballet at Georgia Dance Conservatory and competed with the Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta.

She “always had something to share with her family, friends, and classmates,” organizers wrote.

Police said the crash happened around 7:30 p.m. A red 2016 Kia Forte traveling west on Macland Road was turning left onto Ernest Barrett Parkway when it entered the path of an eastbound blue 2019 Chevrolet Silverado.

The pickup struck the Kia’s passenger side and overturned, according to Atlanta News First.

Ariella was pronounced dead at the scene. Her father was not injured. The pickup’s driver, a 25-year-old Powder Springs man, was hospitalized with injuries described as not life-threatening.

Police said the collision remained under investigation.

Natalie Hirons organized the FreeFunder campaign on behalf of Julie Bailey to help with funeral and moving expenses. Organizers are asking for contributions by Nov. 6 and encourage those unable to donate to share the campaign.
