East Cobb voters can cast early ballots starting Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 13 locations across Cobb County, including the East Cobb Government Service Center on Lower Roswell Road, after the Board of Elections and Registration approved the advance voting schedule for the Nov. 3 general election Monday, Aug. 10.
The board, chaired by Jennifer Mosbacher, also permanently moved the Bells Ferry 02 precinct polling location to Legacy Church at 1040 Blackwell Road, a change affecting 2,924 active voters in northeast Cobb.
Advance voting details
According to the board's agenda packet, advance in-person voting runs Oct. 13–30 on the following schedule:
- Weekdays (Monday–Friday): 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Saturdays, Oct. 17 and Oct. 24: 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Sundays, Oct. 18 and Oct. 25: noon–5 p.m.
There is no voting Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.
The East Cobb Government Service Center, 4400 Lower Roswell Road, is one of five sites offering both Sunday voting and a ballot drop box. The other four are the North Cobb Senior Center in Acworth, South Cobb Community Center in Mableton, Boots Ward Recreation Center in Powder Springs and the main Elections Office at 995 Roswell St. NE in Marietta.
Eight additional weekday-only locations round out the 13 sites countywide.
Bells Ferry 02 move finalized
The board held a public hearing and voted to permanently relocate the Bells Ferry 02 precinct from the Kulture Event Center on Canton Road to Legacy Church, 0.7 miles away. As we reported Aug. 4, the move had been proposed because the precinct would no longer share space with Addison 01. Monday's vote made it official.
The precinct moved between locations this year. It shifted from Christ Worship Center to the Kulture Event Center for the May primaries before landing at Legacy Church for November.
Absentee ballot drop-off window
The board also approved accepting hand-delivered absentee ballots at the Elections Office on Sunday, Nov. 1, Monday, Nov. 2, and the morning of Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3. That gives voters who miss the Oct. 30 advance voting cutoff a final in-person drop-off option.
Key dates
Chairwoman Mosbacher noted that "now is a great time for anyone interested in becoming a poll worker to apply." The voter registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 5, per Georgia law. Absentee ballot requests must be in by Friday, Oct. 23.
