An 18-year-old East Cobb man faces rape and aggravated sodomy charges after allegedly assaulting a minor girl this summer.
Shawn Marshman, of Field Creek Drive off Hembree Road, was arrested Aug. 27 and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Two other Cobb County men were also arrested on unrelated felony charges on Aug. 29.
According to the arrest warrant, the alleged assault on the girl occurred between June 1 and Aug. 1 at a home off Post Oak Tritt Road. The victim disclosed the allegations during a forensic interview with SafePath Children's Advocacy Center, a Marietta-based nonprofit that conducts forensic interviews in child abuse cases.
The warrant alleges Marshman held the girl's arms down, removed her clothes and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her, then pushed her to her knees, grabbed her hair and forced her to perform oral sex on him. East Cobb News first reported the arrests on Aug. 31.
No attorney for Marshman was listed in booking records.
East Cobb man charged with child cruelty
David Dewar, 38, of Holly Mill Run off Murdock Road in East Cobb, faces charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and first-degree child cruelty, both felonies.
The charges stem from an incident the night of Saturday, Aug. 29, involving a 12-year-old at the Holly Mill Run residence, according to the arrest warrant. The warrant states Dewar grabbed and lifted the child by the back of the neck for approximately 10 seconds. The child reported neck pain and difficulty breathing.
The responding officer observed two purple bruise marks on the side of the child's neck, according to the warrant. The child's sex was not disclosed.
The warrant did not state what prompted the incident. Dewar was booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center late that night and is being held without bond, according to Cobb County Sheriff's Office records.
Northeast Cobb man charged after allegedly shooting at driver
Tyrone Bachman, 51, of Shannon Drive off Canton Road in northeast Cobb County, was arrested Aug. 29 on felony charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
An arrest warrant states Bachman shot at a man who was driving away from Bachman's home late Friday, Aug. 28, or early Saturday, Aug. 29. Police found a 9-millimeter shell casing in Bachman's driveway.
The warrant does not indicate a possible motive. Bachman is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to Cobb County Sheriff's Office records.
All three defendants remain in custody without bond. No court dates have been announced for any of the cases as of Tuesday, Sept. 1.
