Cobb County offers free Cybersecurity Day Oct. 30 in Marietta

East Cobb residents can get free, hands-on cybersecurity training at an all-day public event Friday, Oct. 30, at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta.

Cobb Cybersecurity Day 2026 runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the civic center, 548 South Marietta Parkway SE. The event is free and open to residents, students, businesses and community organizations, according to a county press release published by East Cobb News. Registration is encouraged but not required.

The county is holding the event during October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month. The annual campaign has raised awareness about cybersecurity and data privacy since 2004.

Sessions will cover how to recognize, reject and report cyber threats, along with practical steps for protecting personal data and spotting scams. Cobb County's Technology-Based Crimes Unit, a division of the Cobb County Police Department that investigates computer trespass, online fraud and digital forensics, will share insights at the event. Attendees will also hear how the county safeguards community data.

Students interested in cybersecurity careers will find dedicated career guidance sessions.

The county said the event aims to equip attendees with knowledge to protect themselves, their families and their workplaces. Cybersecurity has been a growing priority for Cobb County. In June 2024, Chief Information Officer Kimberly Lemley represented the county at a regional cyber-preparedness exercise hosted by the Atlanta Regional Commission and the Urban Area Security Initiative. "Cobb County's involvement in this tabletop exercise underscores our commitment to maintaining robust cybersecurity measures and staying vigilant against potential threats," Lemley said at the time, according to a county announcement.

Attendees on Oct. 30 will receive a complimentary catered lunch. Door prizes include a Surface Laptop, a Jackery Power Station and premium headphones.
