The Marietta Police Department on Thursday, July 23, commended its officers and staff for their coordination with the U.S. Secret Service during President Donald Trump's visit to Cobb County the day before.

Trump arrived at Dobbins Air Reserve Base on Wednesday, July 22, for a visit that also took him to Wheeler High School in Marietta. The security operation required officers from both the Marietta Police Department and the Cobb County Police Department to work alongside federal agents from the Secret Service's Atlanta Field Office and the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

Cobb County Police Department officers on motorcycles provided escort along the motorcade route, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Other local law enforcement personnel assisted with monitoring operations at Dobbins as the president moved through the area.

Photos released by the Secret Service showed Cobb County officers stationed on motorcycles at Dobbins and participating in on-site monitoring during the visit. Secret Service and local police officers were also photographed meeting Trump at the base.

Secretary of Education Linda McMahon also appeared at Wheeler High School during the visit, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

No security incidents were reported during the president's time in Cobb County. The Marietta Police Department's commendation recognized the multi-agency effort required to coordinate local resources with federal security protocols for a presidential visit.

The operation updates a security deployment that Cobb County Police had announced ahead of the visit. Cobb County Police confirmed on Tuesday, July 21, that officers would be supporting the Secret Service during the presidential stop, a plan that included motorcycle units and additional monitoring personnel at Dobbins.

The successful conclusion of the visit marks one of the larger multi-agency security operations in Cobb County in recent months, involving at least four agencies across local, state, and federal levels.
