A College Park man who allegedly robbed a Marietta Subway at gunpoint is now facing 20 federal counts and a mandatory minimum of 63 years in prison after a grand jury indictment returned July 28.
Tracy Daryl Mingo, 33, was arraigned Thursday, Aug. 6, in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia on charges of Hobbs Act robbery, attempted robbery, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
Investigators say Mingo robbed 10 Circle K, Subway and Family Dollar stores across six metro Atlanta communities between Oct. 20, 2025, and Jan. 1, 2026. The targeted cities include College Park, Decatur, East Point, Fairburn, Marietta and Union City. The Marietta Daily Journal identified the local target as a Subway restaurant.
The Marietta Police Department assisted the FBI-led investigation, along with police departments in College Park, DeKalb County, East Point, Fairburn and Union City.
Late-night holdups, elaborate disguises
Prosecutors say Mingo entered each store late at night, after most or all customers had left, and held employees at gunpoint. He allegedly cycled through disguises to avoid identification, dressing as a construction worker, a health care professional and a security guard. The tactic earned him the label "master of disguise" in federal court filings and media coverage.
The FBI and local partners arrested Mingo on Jan. 2, 2026, when agents observed him apparently putting on the same security guard outfit used during a Circle K robbery the night before.
No one was seriously hurt.
63-year mandatory minimum
U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg said Mingo allegedly endangered more than a dozen store employees across 10 locations by robbing them at gunpoint. Hertzberg credited collaborative efforts between the FBI and local police partners for identifying and arresting Mingo before anyone suffered serious injury.
FBI Atlanta Special Agent in Charge Marlo Graham said investigators shared information across jurisdictions to stop an individual accused of threatening communities throughout metro Atlanta.
Mingo, a convicted felon, remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. No trial date has been announced.
The indictment contains only charges. Mingo is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
