Two incidents on Powers Ferry Road led to felony charges against three men, including gun and drug offenses at a sports lounge and a sexual assault at a residence.
Two South Carolina men are being held without bond in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center after arrest warrants allege they had firearms and narcotics in a vehicle outside One Atlanta Sports Lounge, as first reported by East Cobb News. A 19-year-old East Cobb man also sits in the Cobb jail without bond on aggravated assault and aggravated sodomy charges tied to an alleged attack at a Powers Ferry Road home.
Sports lounge incident
Chad Everett Hudson and Robert Hoban, both of Sumter, S.C., face felony charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and drug possession, according to their arrest warrants.
Cobb County Police responded to 2000 Powers Ferry Road, the address of One Atlanta Sports Lounge, formerly known as Monticello ATL, after 2 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25. Three occupants of a black Jeep had "threatened to shoot the place up," according to the warrants. Security guards told the men to leave and called police.
An officer who approached the Jeep identified Hudson, Hoban and a third man, Ja'Riunte Wilson, also of Sumter. The officer spotted two firearms in the rear passenger area and smelled marijuana, the warrants state.
Hudson and Hoban were ordered out of the vehicle. Wilson tried to slip away on foot. All three were patted down and handcuffed.
A probable-cause search of the Jeep turned up a Draco 7.62 weapon and a Glock 20 9mm handgun in the backseat, along with marijuana and a body bag with narcotics pills, according to the warrants. Hudson told police the Glock was his. Hoban claimed the Draco, the warrants state.
Wilson was arrested on a felony drug possession charge and released after posting a $2,970 bond, according to his booking report. Hudson and Hoban remain in custody without bond, according to Cobb Sheriff's Office booking records.
Sexual assault charges
In a separate case, Taylor Gage McComb Smith, 19, of a Denards Mill address in East Cobb, faces felony charges of aggravated assault and aggravated sodomy and a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.
Smith allegedly attacked a woman at a Powers Ferry Road residence on Sept. 20, according to his arrest warrant. The warrant states he put his arms around the victim's neck, causing her difficulty breathing to the point of near unconsciousness, then sexually assaulted her. He also allegedly slapped the victim's face after the attack.
Smith was taken into custody Saturday, Sept. 26, and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to his booking report.
No court dates have been announced for any of the suspects. The Cobb County Police Department has not released a public statement on either incident. Anyone with information on either case can contact Cobb County Police at 770-499-3911.
