Pope’s volleyball season ended Tuesday, Oct. 27, when Woodward Academy swept the Greyhounds 3-0 in the GHSA Class 6A state semifinals at LakePoint Sports Champions Center in Emerson.

Woodward ended Pope’s championship pursuit for the second consecutive season, the Marietta Daily Journal reported. The War Eagles won the Class 5A title in 2025 before moving to Class 6A this year.

The loss followed Pope’s 10th consecutive trip to the semifinals, according to the MDJ’s quarterfinal coverage. The Greyhounds advanced by sweeping South Effingham on Oct. 24.

Pope entered the semifinal ranked first in Class 6A by MaxPreps, with Woodward third. The site listed pre-match records of 34-9 for Pope and 26-7 for Woodward, but had not incorporated Tuesday’s result when reviewed. Set scores were unavailable.

Sophomore Jenna Rodgers led Pope with 300 kills in statistics posted before the semifinal. Junior setter Emilia Crawford had 661 assists, while junior libero Wynnie Abney recorded 598 digs and 632 receptions. Junior middle hitter Raegan Marshman led the team with 116 blocks.

Those figures were last updated Oct. 26 and do not include the semifinal.

Senior captain Lynden Harvey helped lead a roster with only two seniors. A Cobb County School District profile published Oct. 8 credited Harvey with more than 700 career kills, a role on Pope’s 2024 state championship team and First Team All-Region honors in 2025.

Pope also won its second consecutive Cobb County championship this season, completing that tournament without dropping a set, according to the district profile.

Woodward advances to the Class 6A championship match Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m. at LakePoint Sports Champions Center, according to the GHSA schedule.
