Mayor Steve "Thunder" Tumlin signed a proclamation on Saturday, July 11, declaring Capt. Charles Dobbins Day on the 83rd anniversary of the Marietta native's death during Operation Husky, the Allied invasion of Sicily that claimed the C-47 co-pilot on his 88th combat mission.
