East Cobb families have two free Halloween events on their doorstep in October, both aimed at young children.
Cobb County's fall events roundup lists a Halloween Hike at East Cobb Park on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The county encourages attendees to wear costumes for the community event, which takes place at a park known for its multiple walking trails, scenic creek overlooks and two playgrounds. Families can visit eastcobbpark.org for more information and registration.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the East Cobb Library hosts Halloween Face Painting from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Children ages 3 and up can get their faces painted before heading out to trick-or-treat. The library is at 4880 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta. The county lists the event for preschoolers ages 3–5, elementary-age children 5–9 and tweens 9–12.
Both events are part of more than a dozen Halloween and fall activities Cobb County organized across the county for October. Most are free unless a fee is noted.
Families looking beyond East Cobb have several other county options. The Cobb PARKS Fall Festival of Fun on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Jim Miller Park features hayrides, a petting zoo and magic shows at no cost. Jim Miller Park also runs a Haunted House on Oct. 24–25 and Oct. 28–31 for $5 per person, with an all-inclusive night on Wednesday, Oct. 28, offering adjusted lighting and scare levels for visitors with different sensory needs. The Sewell Mill Spook-tacular on Oct. 28 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sewell Mill Cultural Center is free and open to all ages.
The full October events calendar is available on the Cobb County website.
